My apologies on my absence from here. My imagination has been tapped and haven't had any new ideas recently and have grown tired of rehashing the same concepts. I love doing these so much though, so have been working at just becoming better all around, but have been trying as hard as I can recently to get lighting down and have come to the conclusion I am either too stupid to figure it all out or being very color-blind has finally threw me face first into a wall. Help me out here: Below is a series of images of all the same figure (It was the main focus of the Halloween image of Mom that I never posted because I eventually thought it sucked.) with different light settings...give me your opinions on them please. BTW...I am putting together the Xmas images and if I end up being proud of any of them, they'll be here soon... Think Images 3 or 4 are better. The brightness of them helps you see more details in the pic...

Image two is far too dark which makes it hard to see anything. Image one is pretty cool in and of itself. Image three seems a bit too bright with the skin and makes the model appear overly pale (tho it might work for the character). Image four seems to have a good amount of balance and I like it the best. Image five is just too orange/brown/whatever the heck the color was.

Im gonna have to go with Image 3. I am ALWAYS a very pale redhead and it fits more than any of the others. On a side note, I finally found my notebook with your "commission" in it. Should have it edited (it REALLY needs it) and to you for illustration by the end of the week

I would just like to comment I like your work Net and appreciate the work you put them in. That is why I can never offer you a my opinion. I am about as artitstically challenged as it comes and any insights into what is good and not would not be trusted coming from me.
Of course the color blind wookie comments.. so.. hehe

[glow=red,2,300]I assuming this is a work of Mother fighting in a dugeon or some such, givin that idea I'd say iamge5 is by far the best in terms of brightness and the fact that there would probably be torches or something to that effect giving off the light in which case is does a great rendition of it. For the use of normal white light, image 4 would lead that catagory, but overall especially for realism and quality, 5 wins

I am torn between 3 and 4. You can see all the details in 3, but 4 seems to be more realistic lighting for a midevil setting.

[glow=orange,2,300]My thoughts were right along with Daishi's. As I scrolled through them I got to 3 and thought it was cool how pale she was, but saw 4 and thought it was even more realistic being deep in a dark place cuz she seemed to have a glow in 3 that wasn't as natural as 4. And once I saw number 5, I thought it was even more realistic cuz as Daishi said, the scene looks as though it would be lit up with torches which totally works for the yellow/orange lighting, even tho it does make her look 'less pale.'
But as always, I think all your work is marvelous Net. Don't let your color-blindness get you down, you're doing great and no one would even know if you hadn't said anything.[/glow]
